Case Studies
Commdex provided systems design engineering, integration, and
implementation of a multi-zone Public Safety voice and data system,
exceeding coverage objectives. A fault tolerant microwave network
backbone was constructed from 121 radio sites, supporting 15 state
agency dispatch centers and over 8000 subscribers. Commdex collaborated
with the Virginia Statewide Agencies Radio System (STARS) Project
Managers, the Commonwealth of Virginia State Agency Communications
Directors, and the Motorola Project Team and Supervisory Staff in
implementing a state-of-the-art solution, satisfying their
interoperability and legacy systems migration needs.

The Cobb County rebanding effort was directed by Commdex, the field
project and technical engineering lead, in partnership with the Motorola
state project manager and County representatives. As project lead,
Commdex analyzed the existing communications infrastructure, designed,
scoped and priced the technological migration path for the existing
systems, communicated with representatives and clients, and successfully
negotiated rebanding funding for all involved parties.
Commdex
worked collaboratively with the Motorola project team and DeKalb County
representatives, serving as project lead for the fleetmapping effort.
Commdex directed the migration of entities to updated technologies,
conceptualized and implemented wide-area planning, documented and
converted existing fleetmaps, conducted workshops and active review
between all parties, designed radio templates for communication and
interoperability, and established a sound technological infrastructure
for future growth considerations.
For
Johnson County, Commdex designed wide-area solutions, negotiated
interoperability between all necessary entities, communicated
proactively with representatives and clients, promoted active review
between all parties, and created a technical foundation to support both
current and future needs and additions. Commdex supervised the
fleetmapping effort as project lead, operating jointly with the Motorola
project team and Johnson County representatives.
Commdex
served as the project lead for the design and renovation of the SHQ
facility, collaborating with Motorola and CBP representatives to
successfully accomplish the project. Commdex provided design and
construction services for facility upgrades as well as the design and
construction of a new communications tower. Commdex developed and
maintained the overall project schedule, which included Motorola and CBP
requirements.
