Commdex Awarded Major Statewide Communications Network Project in Missouri
State of Missouri—November 9th, 2011—Commdex, a telecommunications systems integration firm headquartered in Norcross, GA, has kicked-off a multi-year project to implement a state wide wireless IP/MPLS network to support the convergence of multiple systems within the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP).
In phase one of the project, Commdex is finishing the build-out of the MSHP’s partially completed eastern link to connect the St. Louis area to Jefferson City. During the future phases of the project, Commdex will complete portions of the MSHP Microwave IP/MPLS Network that will connect LMR tower sites and all of the troop locations into a single system throughout the state.
The project is off to a strong start with Commdex troubleshooting the existing links, configuring the MPLS network for L2/3 VPN services and provisioning remote network management enabling better span of control and performance monitoring. Commdex will complete the network repair and transition into the provisioning of new sites via the installation of microwave/MPLS links going east towards Kansas City. Commdex civil teams are performing structural analysis and potential structural modifications to existing towers in the MSHP network to make them suitable for additional loading. Audits will be conducted to ensure that the communications sites are properly grounded and meet established R56 standards.
Upon completion, the MSHP will have an integrated network with an MPLS backbone that connects its headquarters with wide spreading regions across Missouri. This Microwave IP/ MPLS network project is one of the first of its kind and represents a shift in radio communications to a network design that provides dynamic traffic management and more reliable communications, with greater service offerings.
