The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has approximately 37,000 dedicated Civilians and Soldiers delivering engineering services to customers in more than 130 countries worldwide. According to the USACE website, environmental sustainability is a guiding principle of the organization, as it diligently works to strengthen national security by building and maintaining America’s infrastructure and providing military facilities where servicemen train, work and live. USACE strives to reduce the energy footprint of its facilities, and one energy conservation measure that it employs is the use of simple and efficient building systems with renewable energy options, which can be achieved through the design and build of solar PV systems.
