Norcross, GA, January 15^th, 2015 – Commdex, a leading provider of critical communications solutions, has successfully deployed new distributed antenna systems (DAS) to expand wireless coverage for a set of six critical buildings in Monmouth County, New Jersey. This solution boosts network capacity and improves service reliability for three medical centers, one hospital, one courthouse and one jail, delivering enhanced communications for a set of the County’s most critical infrastructures.

A DAS installation consists of spatially separated antenna nodes connected to a common source via a transport medium that provides wireless service, allowing for more efficient management of wireless capacity in heavily-trafficked areas. A DAS solution was chosen, as it can enhance the user experience throughout these facilities, where wireless coverage was previously tested and determined to be poor. As more than 70% of calls originate indoors, users demand better coverage and higher bandwidth inside buildings and other structures. Further, public safety users require reliable, ubiquitous wireless coverage for daily operations and to guarantee the safety of the public, as well as themselves, in emergency situations.

The Commdex- installed DAS systems for each of the six facilities successfully underwent extensive testing prior to final customer approval to ensure that all coverage requirements were exceeded. As part of this contract, Commdex also provided RF surveys for coverage analysis, DAS design, installation and optimization, project management, system testing during all project phases, and onsite support and maintenance.
