Commdex Selected to Enhance Wireless Coverage for Fluvanna County, VA High School
Norcross, GA, October 14th, 2015 – Commdex, a leading provider of critical communications solutions, has been selected to deploy a new Distributed Antenna System (DAS) to expand wireless coverage inside the Fluvanna County High School in Virginia. The solution will boost network capacity and improve service reliability inside the school, delivering enhanced communications to a campus where operations had been previously hindered by poor connectivity.
Today’s wireless users expect to communicate anywhere and everywhere. DAS technology makes it possible to expand wireless coverage within and between structures, allowing cell phones and radios to function regardless of position within the building. A DAS installation consists of spatially separated antenna nodes connected to a common source via a transport medium that provides wireless service, allowing for more efficient management of wireless capacity in heavily-trafficked areas. Today, more than ever before, dependable coverage is essential for the daily operational, public safety, and emergency service needs of schools in every city, county and state across the country. A well-functioning DAS system can support both day to day operations, as well as handle emergency communications, should a situation arise that puts the safety of those inside the school at risk.
Once implemented, the DAS solution will enhance coverage in all above ground floors of the Fluvanna County High School. The system will undergo extensive testing prior to final customer approval to ensure that all coverage requirements are exceeded. Under this contract, Commdex will provide RF surveys for coverage analysis, DAS design, installation and optimization, project management, and coverage testing for the in-building wireless system deployment.
