Commdex Selected to Provide Communications Solution for DOE Oak Ridge Facility
Atlanta, GA, February 25th, 2019 – Commdex has been awarded a major subcontract by Bechtel National in support of the Department of Energy (DOE) to provide an in-building communications system for Oak Ridge Uranium Processing Facility (UPF). The solution, a new Distributed Antenna System (DAS), will boost network capacity and improve service reliability for six buildings within the facility, delivering enhanced communications to these locations.
As part of the turnkey solution, Commdex will provide an array of services that include complete design of a neutral host DAS system that supports on-site radio, commercial carrier and local public safety communications. In addition to the design and preparation of the equipment, Commdex will also perform testing, submittal development, and manage the staging and installation of the equipment. While on-site, Commdex staff will provide high level training in the operation and management of the new DAS solution. Once implemented, this system will improve voice, data and public safety signals inside the six buildings where the ability to exchange information and adequately communicate is imperative for daily operations.
According to Commdex President, Prince Niyyar, “We are excited to support Bechtel to provide an in-building communications system for Oak Ridge UPF. This is an important opportunity for our team to deliver a DAS solution designed to this customer’s specific requirements for the dependable coverage that is essential for the daily operational, public safety, and emergency service needs of the facility.”
