National Cooperative Highway Research Program Selects Commdex for Telecom Research Engagement
Atlanta, GA, August 30th, 2018 – National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) has awarded Commdex a two-year contract to conduct research to provide comprehensive guidance to Departments of Transportation (DOTs) to inform decision-making for the selection of wireless communications systems. The NCHRP, a program supported by the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), addresses issues integral to the state DOTs and transportation professionals at all levels of government and the private sector.
The objective of Commdex’s research is to create a guidebook to be used in design, funding, procuring and governing statewide, regional, or local wireless systems. This research will assist state, local, tribal, and territorial DOTs; transit; and other public safety entities in understanding and making key decisions with respect to the selection of wireless voice and data communications systems.
Commdex President Prince Niyyar said, “We are pleased that the NCHRP has selected Commdex to provide guidance to transportation agencies and other public safety organizations to navigate the vast array of technology choices available today. Our research will help these entities to understand, select, and implement the technologies and systems best suited to support their field staff during daily activities and incident response or emergencies.”
